NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN head men's basketball coach Andy Newman has announced the 2024-25 schedule. The 31-game schedule features 13 games played at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
Â
A total of two NCAA Tournament teams are on the 2024-25 slate, which include Montana State and defending Big West champion Long Beach State. CSUN will face USC for the first time in three seasons while the Matadors are scheduled to play four games over Thanksgiving week in Montana. A total of eight teams on the schedule had winning records last season.
Â
"I'm really excited about this year's non-conference schedule," said Newman. "It's a chance to start off right away on the East Coast playing good St. Bonaventure and Le Moyne teams, which will provide an early test for our team. Also, we're looking forward to going up to Montana over Thanksgiving to play in their multi-team tournament and play in a great environment. Obviously, being able to play at USC is an opportunity to showcase a lot of great Southern California talent in one place."
Â
CSUN travels to New York for the first of two games of the season with the opener set for Monday, Nov. 4 against St. Bonaventure. The Matadors close the road trip with a matchup at Le Moyne on Nov. 6.
Â
The 2024-24 home opener is set for Wednesday, Nov. 13 against Nobel University. CSUN then hits the road to square off with Sacramento State on Nov. 16 before making the trip to Montana during Thanksgiving week.
Â
The Matadors are slated to compete in a four-team multi-team tournament hosted by the University of Montana beginning Sunday, Nov. 24 when CSUN meets Utah Tech. A day later, the Matadors face Denver before meeting host Montana on Nov. 27. The week will close on Nov. 30 at Montana State, the reigning Big Sky champion, in Bozeman, Mont.
Â
CSUN opens Big West play on Thursday, Dec. 5 by hosting UC Riverside before visiting Cal Poly (Dec. 7). After finals week, CSUN visits the Galen Center to take on USC on Dec. 18. The final two games of non-conference play will be at home with CSUN hosting Chicago State (Dec. 21) and La Sierra (Dec. 28).
Â
The Matadors return to Big West play on Jan. 2 at Cal State Fullerton before hosting UC Davis (Jan. 4) and defending Big West regular season champ UC Irvine (Jan. 9). After trips to Cal State Bakersfield (Jan. 11) and Hawai'i (Jan. 16), CSUN returns to Northridge to host Long Beach State on Jan. 23. The month of January closes on the road with tests at UC San Diego (Jan. 25) and UC Santa Barbara (Jan. 30).
Â
In February, CSUN has home return meetings set versus Cal State Bakersfield (Feb. 1), Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 6), Cal Poly (Feb. 15) and UC San Diego (Feb. 27) while road games are scheduled for Long Beach State (Feb. 8), UC Irvine (Feb. 20) and UC Davis (Feb. 22).
Â
Two of the final three games will be played at Premier America Credit Union Arena starting with a return meeting with UC Santa Barbara on March 1. The final regular season road game will be played at UC Riverside (March 6) before the home finale with Hawai'I takes place on March 8.
