NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Men's Basketball's sophomore Marcus Adams Jr. collected his first career Big West Player of the Week honor on Monday, the league office announced. Adams' superb week on the court included setting a new career-high in scoring, helping CSUN tie a school record for 3-point makes in a game and leading the Matadors to a pair of Big West victories.

A Torrance native, Adams registered back-to-back 20-point performances this past week, averaging 24.0 points. Adams was on fire from the field during the week, shooting a robust 58.6 percent from the floor (17-of-29) including 57.9 percent from 3-point range (11-of-19). He also finished averaging 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals for CSUN.
In 26 minutes last Thursday, Adams made just his second start of the season as he poured in 20 points in a 95-65 road victory at Cal State Fullerton. He would make a career-high six 3-pointers, all of which in the first half, as he helped the Matadors tie a school record with 17 made threes on the night. Adams added three steals and two rebounds as well in the 30-point win.
Two days later, Adams would produce his best scoring performance of his career. Adams tallied 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the floor to help defeat UC Davis 73-61 at Premier America Credit Union Arena. He went 5-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc while he totaled seven rebounds and two blocked shots. In the second half, Adams scored 16 of his 28 points as he tallied 11 consecutive Matador points during one key stretch. The win over the Aggies was the Matadors' first since 2021, snapping a seven-game skid.
On the season, Adams has moved into the scoring lead on the team by averaging 15.5 points to go with 5.0 rebounds per game. Adams tops the team with 30 makes from 3-point range on 41.7 percent shooting while he is making 52.9 percent of his field goals overall. Most of his damage has come off the bench this season as Adams has played in a reserve role in 12 of 15 games.
Adams is the first Matador this season to earn a Big West Player of the Week award.
CSUN (11-4, 3-1 Big West) will host preseason favorite UC Irvine (13-2, 3-0 Big West) in a Big West showdown on Thursday evening at Premier America Credit Union Arena on ESPN+. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m.
