IRVINE, Calif. - CSUN Women's Volleyball was recognized with two All-Big West selections as senior opposite Leah Miller was named to the All-Big West Second Team, while sophomore middle/opposite Hayley Ogden earned Honorable Mention, the Big West announced today.
The honors were the first for both CSUN student-athletes and the first for the CSUN Women's Volleyball program since Carisa Barron earned Honorable Mention accolades in 2023.
Miller, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., capped her Matador career with her strongest season yet, earning a place on the eight-member All-Big West Second Team. Miller led CSUN with 291 kills in the regular season (2.49 kps) while hitting .276 on 754 attacks. She ranked 12th in the Big West in hitting and 18th in kills per set. She also finished as one of the Matador's top blockers this season, posting 77 total blocks heading into the postseason.
Ogden, a sophomore who transferred to CSUN from Gonzaga, was recognized on the Honorable Mention list. Ogden finished her first season ranked fourth in the Big West in hitting at .344. Ogden finished the regular season with 229 kills on 480 swings while ranking third on the team with 79 total blocks. She emerged as a key contributor on both sides of the ball, showcasing her versatility and impact for the Matadors.
"Super proud of our two all-conference honorees," said head coach Aquiles Montoya. "Although they both play the same position, their uniqueness in the position complemented each other and kept our opponents having to constantly adapt throughout a match.
"These two would be the first two to tell you that none of it would've been possible without the supporting cast of their teammates, Montoya added. "While Leah is a senior, she has had success off of all three active setters in a very precise system we try to run. Hayley, on the other hand, is a transfer sophomore in her first fall with us, made the switch from middle to right side mid-season. Their success not only highlights their adaptability but also our team's adaptability through any circumstance we were put through during the season. They were excited to hear the news, but immediately moved on in our preparation for the Big West Championship tournament."
