CSUN Selected for NIT, Meets Stanford on Tuesday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Men's Basketball has been selected for the National Invitation Tournament, as announced by the NIT Committee on Sunday.
Placed in the San Francisco region, CSUN will play at Stanford on Tuesday, March 18 in first-round action. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. on ESPN2.
CSUN's selection in the NIT is the first in team history.Â
It has been a historic season for CSUN Men's Basketball in 2024-25. The Matadors tied a school record in wins, registering a 22-10 overall record. During Big West play, CSUN went 14-6 to finish tied for third place, the team's best conference finish since 2020. CSUN also tied a school record with 10 road victories.Â
Under the direction of second-year head coach Andy Newman, CSUN has posted back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2008-09. The Matadors have gone 41-25 over those two seasons, registering their most wins over a two-year span since 1999-01.
CSUN will play in a national tournament for the first time since competing in the College Basketball Invitational in 2019 and for just the fourth time overall at the Division I level.Â
