NORTHRIDGE, Calif -- CSUN Athletics is proud to announce that former Matador Jenna Kilty, a standout player from this past year's CSUN women's basketball squad, has signed her first professional contract with the South West Metro Pirates in NBL1 in Brisbane, Australia.
Kilty was a key contributor for the Matadors this past season, playing all 29 games for CSUN, the most of any player. She averaged 5.6 PPG and 3.1 RPG while leading the team with 45 three pointers on a team best 35.7% shooting from behind the arc. Her best game this past season came against UC Riverside on December 5th, where she tallied 13 points, going 4-7 from distance. Kilty was known for her leadership and work ethic and usually being the first one in the gym putting in shots on game days.
Kilty mentioned her thoughts on the opportunity to play professionally overseas, "Getting the opportunity to play professional basketball is something I've dreamed of and worked for. I've wanted this for a very long time so being able to see it come to fruition is something I feel incredibly blessed to experience. Being in a place like Australia is just icing on the cake. I've only been here for a few days now, but the sights, hospitality and entire vibe of the city has exceeded every expectation I could have had! It is such a cool thing to experience something so new, while getting to play the game I love. I'm very excited to take full advantage of everything Australia has to offer and continue to build relationships within the basketball community."
Kilty joined the Matadors this past season after spending two seasons at the University of Idaho. She also played two seasons at Portland State in her five-year collegiate career. The 5'10 former graduate student is originally from Oakland, Calif.
She becomes the 14th Matador women's basketball player to ever go pro in the sport.Â
CSUN head coach Angie Ned gave her thoughts as well on Kilty signing a professional basketball contract, "I am thrilled that Jenna has the opportunity to continue playing the game of basketball professionally in Australia. Jenna has worked incredibly hard and is more than deserving of this opportunity. Her skill set, love, and passion for the game will afford much success in the NBL."
