NORTHRIDGE, Calif --- CSUN's men's soccer junior goalkeeper Dorian Drucks received Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday, the league office announced. Drucks was the goalkeeper responsible for two shutouts this past week versus Tulsa and Oral Roberts. Drucks was vital in the fact that it was the first time since Sep. 24-28 of 2022 that CSUN had had back-to-back shutouts.
Â
Against the Hurricanes Thursday night, he had a career-high seven saves in the match. The 6'3 junior from Essen, Germany prevented four shots on goal from going in during the first half of the Tulsa match Thursday, saving close call after close call.
Â
In the second half it was more of the same. A shot by Tulsa's Gyuwon Chong at the top of the box landed in hands of Drucks near the bottom center of the goal, another close call that Drucks saved. Tulsa would end the game with two more shots on goal but failed score
Â
Against the Golden Eagles on Sunday, in the first half, the lone shot on goal from ORU came off the foot of Leonardo Almeida Seixas, but he was stopped by a diving save from Drucks.
Â
In the second half, Drucks saved two shots in quick succession, showing the hustle needed to keep the game scoreless. A late goal by Zack Harris with just 12 minutes left to play propelled the Matadors to their first win of the new season.
Â
It is the first time in Drucks' career that he has been named Defensive Player of the Week by the Big West.Â
Â
For the Matadors next contest, they will have one final exhibition before continuing the regular season on September 4 against Seattle U. Biola will come to Matador Soccer Field on August 30 at 7:00 p.m.Â
