Box Score

RIVERSIDE, Calif.---CSUN Women's Soccer dropped a 3-1 decision to UC Riverside on Wednesday evening at UCR Soccer Stadium. Off the bench, Paige Harris scored her first goal of the season in the final minutes of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Highlanders held CSUN without a shot until the 29th minute of match when Lia Peterson missed wide of the net. Peterson would put a shot on frame a minute later, but goalkeeper KaMia Elliott kept the ball out of the net for the Highlanders. Elliott made three saves for UCR in the contest, as she stopped a Jordyn Canister attempt from inside 10 yards in the 33rd minute. The score remained deadlocked at 0-0 until the 39th minute when UCR took advantage of a well-executed service from Mia DiLeow. The pass traveled toward the middle of the box where Morgan Humphrey headed the ball inside the far post for a 1-0 lead.

After leading by a goal at the break, the Highlanders added to their lead in the 53rd minute. UCR would take advantage of a corner kick where a pair of touches in the box led to Natalie Darling hitting the net. The lead swelled to 3-0 in the 69th minute after a CSUN foul in its own box resulted in a penalty kick for UCR. Finley Aghassi delivered on the PK, sending a low shot past a diving Hayden Mauldin to put the Matadors in a three-goal deficit. CSUN would be held off the scoreboard until the 86th minute of action when Malea Johnson set up Harris in front of the net. Johnson's service in front of the goal brought Elliott off her line, giving Harris a chance to track the pass and head in a goal.
