Titans Defeat Matadors, 5-2, End Five Game CSUN Win Streak

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton defeated CSUN (9-6, 0-3 Big West) 5-2 in a Big West women's tennis match Friday at Titan Courts. Satsuki Ishikawa and Madison Shepperson won their singles bouts for CSUN.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Titans secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. The duo of Emilie Lugon-Moulin and Chloe Schwarz topped Angela Ho and Nicole West, 6-2, before Martina Markov and Seha Yu clinched the point with a 6-2 victory over Emma Moratalla Sanz and Sandra Arguelles.Â

In singles play, Fullerton quickly extended its lead to 3-0 with straight set wins on the top two courts. Markov defeated Ho, 6-4, 6-1, and Lugon-Moulin followed with a 6-2, 6-3 win over West.

The Titans pushed the match out of reach on court four, where Yu earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory against Tallia Harper to clinch the win for Fullerton.Â

CSUN got on the board with a pair of wins. Ishikawa posted a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Milena Gevorgyan on Court No. 5, and Shepperson added a three-set victory on Court No. 6, defeating Dana Kunza 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 in a match tiebreak. Fullerton closed out the match on Court No. 3 where Amelia Zylberman outlasted Moratalla Sanz in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 10-3.

NOTES OF THE GAME
CSUN will get some time off before it plays host to UC Riverside on Wednesday, March 31 at Matador Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 10:00 a.m. CSUN has a 44-1 record all-time against the Highlanders.

- With the win, Fullerton is tops in the Big West with a 12-3 overall record in 5-0 in conference play.
