Matador Baseball Honors CSUN Faculty on MVP Day

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – CSUN Baseball honored campus faculty as part of CSUN Athletics' MVP (Most Valuable Professor) Program during the Matadors' April 18 Big West game against UC Davis at Robert J. Hiegert Field.
"CSUN student-athletes continue to achieve at a high level thanks to the support of CSUN faculty and staff," said Ryan Swartwood, CSUN's Director of Athletics. "The MVP games are an important opportunity for our Athletics Department to bring our campus community together, recognize those contributions, and thank the individuals who make a lasting impact on our student-athletes."
As part of the MVP experience, honorees were invited to partake in a pregame ceremony and were recognized for their meaningful impact on their academic and personal journeys. Arthur Zverev, a professor in the Criminology and Justice Studies department, threw out the ceremonial first pitch to student-athlete Kody King.
Baseball MVP Honorees
- Rene Zamarripa, professor in the Department of Economics in the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, was invited by Calix Armijo.
- Hana Nguyen, professor in the Department of Business Law in the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, was invited by Lucas Alaniz.
- Arthur Zverev, professor in the Department of Criminology and Justice Studies in the College of Social and Behavioral Science, was invited by Kody King.
- Marc Wane, professor in the Department of Business Law in the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, was invited by Adam Christopher.
The Apr. 18 baseball ceremony concludes CSUN Athletics' MVP games for the 2025-26 academic year. This year, CSUN Athletics honored over 90 MVP's through the Most Valuable Professor program.
