EUGENE, Ore.---CSUN's Summer Mosley finished in the top-15 in the women's discus on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside historic Hayward Field.Â
Originally from Miami, Mosley made her NCAA Championship debut as she claimed 15th place in the 24-athlete field. Her third and final throw would reach 54.59m (179-1) while she also registered a mark of 54.21m (177-10) in her first attempt of the afternoon.Â
With her 15th-place finish, Mosley earns All-America Second Team honors in what was a banner season for the senior. Mosley became the first Matador to qualify for nationals in the discus since Monique Griffiths in 2017 while her 15th-place finish in the discus is the best since CSUN's Carol Stevenson (eighth place) in 2004.Â
Mosley previously held the top discus mark in the region heading into the NCAA West First Round in May. She would qualify for nationals with a toss of 56.52m (185-5) at regionals to place her fifth overall. A three-time Big West champion over her two-year CSUN career, Mosley earned her second straight discus title at the 2026 Big West Championships this season as she broke her own school record with a top mark of 59.60m (195-6).Â
In April, Mosley reset the CSUN record book in the women's discus, breaking Cheree Hicks' record which stood since 1998. Mosley would break her own discus record twice more during the season.Â
ACCORDING TO COACH JUSTIN JOHNSON
Today didn't go the way we thought it would. Summer has battled all year to get to this point. I'm proud of her resilience and toughness. She worked through an injury that could have ended her season and still won another big west title, broke the school record and made it to the national meet. I couldn't ask for her to do any more than she already has.
