NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The CSUN Women's Golf is set to open the 2026-27 season on Monday (Sept. 14) at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the University of New Mexico's Championship Course.
A total of 13 teams will challenge the UNM Course, including New Mexico, UNLV, Northern Arizona, Cal State Fullerton, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTEP, Nevada, Montana State, Pepperdine, Sacramento State, UC Irvine, and Fresno State and the Matadors.
CSUN will send out a relatively new starting five in New Mexico as Ashley Han, Moanikeala Finau, and Olivia Yoon will each make her CSUN debut. Han and Finau will join returners Nicole Tanoue, Meghan Paracuelles, and Sophie Cook in the Matador lineup, while Yoon will play as an individual.
Tanoue, a senior from Honolulu, Hawai'i, is the Matadors' top returning scorer after averaging 74.06 strokes per round as a junior. Tanoue posted four top 10 finishes in 2025-26, along with a pair of top 20's. Paracuelles played in nine events last season, averaging 77 strokes per round. Cook played in just three events as a freshman, posting a 78.29 scoring average.
CSUN, looking to replace its top two scorers and All-Big West selections from 2026 in Gracie Piar and Kim Turgut, will turn to Han and Finau to begin the season. The Matadors wound up a record-filled 2025-26 season by finishing fourth at the 2026 Big West Women's Golf Championship at Ka'anapali Golf Course in Hawai'i. Turgut fired a final round 3-under 69 to post CSUN's best individual finish in seven years.
The Matadors capped an impressive season by closing the Big West Championship with a team final round of 8-under 280. CSUN's 280 was the low round of the day and is the Matadors' best-ever single round at the conference championship. The Matadors' team score of 876 is also their best at a conference championship, besting the 894 the Matadors posted at the 2019 championship at Moorpark Country Club. CSUN's fourth-place finish is its best since finishing as runners-up at Moorpark CC, also in 2019.
As a team, CSUN posted a pair of tournament wins, claiming Utah Valley's Wolverine Invitational to open the season and winning Fresno State's Soboba Classic in February.Â
In the program record book, the 2025-26 Matador squad posted 13 single rounds into the all-time top 20 rounds in the program's Division I history. CSUN set the record with an 8-under 276 in the second round of the MSU SoCal Spring Invitational on Mar. 8 at Sterling Hills GC in Camarillo. The final round 280 at the Big West Championship ranks second, followed by another 8-under 280 at the Wolverine Invitational at Talon's Cove in September. CSUN's second-round 5-under 283 ranks fourth in history. Â
CSUN's 54-hole tournament score of 14-under 850 at the Wolverine Invitational also sets a new program standard, shattering the previous 54-hole round score of 877 at the same event in 2024. The 2025-26 Matadors also notched the next three best tournament scores in program history: 863 (-1) at the Yellowstone Intercollegiate, 865 (+1) at the Clash at Boulder Creek, and 876 (+12) at the Big West Championship.
