Kevin Bettencourt is in his first season with the CSUN Baseball team as a graduate assistant in 2018-19.
Before coaching, Bettencourt played collegiate baseball at Modesto Junior College before transferring to Vanguard University in Orange County.
Bettencourt played one season at Modesto Junior College from 2013-14 where he served as the team’s catcher. He hit .253 at the plate and helped the team to a 14-0 start to the season and a Top 10 ranking.
After transferring to Vanguard, he played two seasons with the Lions. He started 43 games and posted a .994 fielding percentage, helping guide the team to the 2015 NAIA World Series.
In 2016, Bettencourt played 44 games, leading Vanguard to the opening round of the NAiA National Tournaent. Bettencourt recorded a walk-off squeeze to send Vanguard to the championship game of the opening Round.
Bettencourt earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration in the fall of 2016 from Vanguard University. He earned several awards in the classroom including Golden State Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete, GSAC All-Academic and All-District Academic honors.
He is currently pursuing his Master's in Sports Management from the University of San Francisco.
Born and raised in Modesto, Calif., he attended Central Catholic High School and graduated in 2012. Â
