Joseph Rivas joined the CSUN Sports Medicine staff in August of 2021 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. He works primarily with the Matador baseball program.
Prior to becoming an Assistant Athletic Trainer, he earned his master's degree in kinesiology from CSUN in 2021. He served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer where he worked with the Matadors' women's water polo, men's basketball, women’s tennis, and baseball programs.
In the summer of 2020, he worked as a sports medicine intern at the Las Vegas Raiders.
Rivas earned his bachelor of science degree in Athletic Training from CSUN in 2019. He has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 2017 and has been a NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer since 2019.
Rivas resides in Canoga Park with his family and their dog Penny. In his free time he enjoys hiking, playing basketball, and watching Star Wars.
