2015 (JUNIOR): Posted career bests in the 5k (17:25.60) at the Pepperdine Invitational, 6k (20:15.20) at the Highlander Invitational, and the 8k (28:03.70) at the UC Riverside Invitational.
2014 (SOPHOMORE): Competed at the Aztec Invitational (Sept. 19) where he finished 16th in a season-best time of 30:28.50.
2013 (FRESHMAN): Did not compete.Â
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Reseda High School...earned All-League honors for the Lions cross country team and was named Most Valuable Runner...was also league champion and his team won LA City Championships in 2010 and 2011...the track team won the city championship in 2011 and 2012...graduated with a 3.1 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Born in Michuocan, Mexico...son of Elvia Tapia Cruz and Javier Sanchez...has one older brother, Francisco and one younger sister, Lizeth...favorites include the Oregon Project, runners Steve Prefontaine and Galen Rupp, actress Jennifer Aniston and Mexican food.
