Erick Buitrago arrived at CSUN in November, 2006. He currently works with the men's soccer team and supervises athletic training for the baseball program.Â
Buitrago first spent time at CSUN as an athletic training student from 2000-02, working with the Matador football team in 2001 and the 2002 men's soccer team that qualified for its first-ever trip to the NCAA Division I Tournament. He received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with an option in Athletic Training from CSUN in 2002.
From 2003-05, Buitrago served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Southern Illinois University, where he worked with the Saluki baseball team and the swimming and diving teams. He received a Masters degree in Sport Management and Social Psychology of Sport at SIU in 2005.
During the 2005-06 season, Buitrago served as an assistant athletic trainer at Indiana State University working with the Sycamore baseball, softball and women's soccer teams.
In December of 2007, Buitrago was the on-set athletic trainer for the first season of the new American Gladiators.
Buitrago graduated locally from Chatsworth High School where he lettered in both baseball and basketball for the Chancellors. He played two years of college baseball at Los Angeles Valley College and during the summer of 1997, he pitched for the Kenosha Kroakers of the Northwoods Woodbat League in Kenosha, WI.
