Kent Lowry will begin his second season as the volunteer assistant coach with the CSUN program in 2023.
Lowry joins the Matadors after serving as the head varsity softball coach at La Reina High School in Thousand Oaks, Calif. from 2019-21. He has also been a junior varsity softball coach at Agoura High School (2019, 2021).Â
Lowry coached Rec, Fall Ball, and as an All-Star Coach for the Westlake-Agoura Girls Softball program from 2014-17, and again in 2019 and 2021. Those teams posted three top-10 finishes at the State Tournament in Lancaster and made two appearances in the Western National Tournament.
Lowry has also served as an assistant high school baseball coach at Granada Hills School (1996) and as the head junior varsity baseball coach at Taft High School in Woodland Hills (1997-2000). He also coached American Legion Baseball in Woodland Hills from 1997-98.
Lowry has earned certifications from USA Softball (ACE Level 4) and Softball Excellence (Level 7, the highest level. He is an NFHS Accredited Interscholastic Coach. Lowry received his BA in Spanish Language & Culture from CSUN in 1991, his MA in Spanish Linguistics from UCLA in 1996, and his JD from Loyola Law School (Los Angeles, Calif.) in 2003. Â
Lowry has one daughter Sydnie who plays varsity softball at Agoura High School.
