Â
FOR STARTERS
CSUN is currently in seventh place in the Big West, one spot short of the final seed in the Big West Championship Tournament. The Matadors' Big West record is 5-10, while their overall record is 9-24. CSUN has series wins against UC Riverside and Cal Poly, and series defeats against Cal State Bakersfield, Hawai'i and Cal State Fullerton. CSUN's last Big West win was a comeback, 11-7 win against Cal Poly at Matador Diamond on March 22.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
CSUN fell to the Loyola Marymount University Lions, 6-0 Wednesday night in a non-conference contest at Smith Field. Kylie Kolkowski had two hits for the Matadors. Mackenzie Kila, Isabella Hiner and Madison Okano each recorded a hit. Malia Williams took the loss, as her record fell to 4-11.
Â
RAEGAN TAKING ON HER ROLE AS THE LEADERÂ
Raegan Jackson is one of the longest tenured Matadors on the team. She is a certified leader with her presence but also her play as well. After being named a 2025 All-Big West Honorable Mention, she has not lost a beat in her senior season in 2026. Jackson has 30 hits in the 33 games played so far and is currently leading CSUN in batting average at .357. She has 12 stolen bases in 12 chances including stealing three bags against Portland State on February 8, which was a career high. She also leads the team in doubles with six.
Â
MADISON OKANO - THE SPARKPLUGÂ
"We go as Madison Okano goes," said Interim Head Coach Jodie Cox after the last series win against Cal Poly at Matador Diamond. CSUN had five outs to work with, down two runs on Sunday, March 22 and Okano came up clutch. She clobbered a pitch over the wall in left to cut the lead in half at 7-6. It sparked the Matador offense. CSUN would go on to score six runs in the inning to win the game 11-7. A junior transfer from Gilbert, Ariz., Okano played 20 games last season in her backyard at Arizona State. Okano was one of Coach Cox's biggest commits in the offseason, and she has proven to be a force. She leads the team in homers at four and hits at 36. She is second on the team in batting average at .336 and second on the team in OPS at .888. Okano is also tops in RBIs at 14.
Â
ONE-TWO PUNCH IN THE CIRCLEÂ
Williams and Tso have logged the majority of innings in the circle this season for the Matadors. Tso has pitched 94.1 and Williams has pitched 73.2 innings out of the total 207 innings played. Tso is leading the team in ERA at a 4.82 clip. Williams has a 5.80 ERA in 18 games started. In the series win over Cal Poly three weeks ago, both players threw their season high for innings in one game. Tso pitched eight innings in an extra-inning win against Cal Poly on March 21, while Williams pitched all seven innings in a close 2-3 defeat against those same Mustangs.
Â

Over the three games, Sawai went 2-0 with an ERA of 0.58, throwing a complete game, striking out five and allowing just one run over 12 innings pitched.
