Appeared in 15 games and started in two of them… Launched her first career home run against Pacific (2/16)...Tallied four hits and two RBIs on the season… Slugged .438…
CSUN - 2024 (Junior)
Cortez started 11 games and made 29 total appearances ... batted .286 with 14 hits, seven RBI, five runs scored and three doubles ... set new career highs in batting, hits and RBI this season ... hit .281 with five RBI in 18 Big West games ... went 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI and one stolen base in her season debut vs. Portland State (2/9/24) ... hit an RBI triple vs. Cal State Fullerton (4/6/24) ... finished 2-for-4 with an RBI at Cal State Bakersfield (4/7/24) ... named to the Big West All-Academic Team.

Daughter of Bobby and Melody Cortez … a Communication Studies major ... favorites include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Corey Seager, Chris Evans, Melissa McCarthy, Grey’s Anatomy, Titanic (movie), Shrimp Alfredo, Florida Georgia Line, John Legend, and YouTube … chose CSUN because it felt like a home away from home, she fell in love with the program and the coaching staff and how the coaches prepare the student-athletes for life after college … says her greatest sports moment is when her travel team won the Tier 1 Alliance berth … says the best thing about being an athlete is building friendships with people that turn into family and being taught what hard work truly is … says the toughest thing about being an athlete is the time spent away from family and friends … the most famous person she has met is the late Tommy Lasorda … the person in history she would like to meet is Jackie Robinson … the two people she would like to have dinner with are Chris Evans and Corey Seager … the best advice she has been given is to have fun with all the opportunities life gives … her advice to young people is focus on the present, have fun in everything that you do, and don’t take advantage of the little moments … her greatest hero is her brother because he’s been a constant supporter of and shows her what the true meaning of hard work and having fun really is.
