CSUN - 2017 (Junior)
Katie Sato played in all 18 matches for CSUN as a junior ... paired with Julie Haake for all 18 matches, playing 17 at No. 1 and once at No. 2 ... finished 5-12 at No. 1 and 0-1 at No. 2 for an overall record of 5-13 ... defeated Colorado Mesa in three sets (19-21, 21-15, 15-10) for their first win of the season ... closed the season with wins in three of their last five matches, including victories over Cal State LA, Concordia and Sacramento State in the opening round of the Big West Tournament.
CSUN - 2016 (Sophomore)
Sato played in 21 of CSUN's 22 matches as a sophomore ... paired with Lauren Conati for all 21 matches and posted an overall record of 4-17 ... played 11 matches at the No. 1 spot (4-7) and 10 matches at the No. 2 spot (0-10) ... defeated Concordia in three sets (21-15, 19-21, 15-10)  for their first win (Mar. 31) for their first win of the season ... also defeated Colorado Mesa, Concordia and Cal Poly (Big West Championship) ... was one of five Matador players named to the 2016 Big West All-Academic Team.
CSUN - 2015 (Freshman)
Sato played in all 11 matches for CSUN as a freshman ... paired with Mahina Haina and posted an overall record of 2-9 playing at the No. 2 spot ... swept Cal Poly, 21-17, 21-12 for their first win (Mar. 7) ... also defeated TCU in straight sets (21-14, 21-18) on Mar. 10 ... CSUN won two of its three matches on the season when Haina/Sato won.
AGOURA HIGH SCHOOL
Sato earned four varsity letters as both an outside hitter and libero at Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, Calif. ... was a first team All-Marmonte League selection in both 2011 and 2013, a second team pick in 2012 and a third team honoree as a freshman in 2010 ... was named team Most Valuable Player three times in four years (2011-13) and was honored as Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 ... the Chargers finished with a 24-6 record under coach Brock Redmond in 2013 ... graduated in 2014 with a 3.65 grade point average.
PERSONAL
Born June 25, 1996 in Calabasas, CA ... parents are Sandra and Gary Sato ... has one older brother, Andrew who plays for Long Beach State and one younger sister, Malia ... comes from a rich volleyball family; her father played collegiate volleyball at UC Santa Barbara and coached CSUN head coach Jeff Stork at Pepperdine, her aunt Liane played at UCSB and San Diego State and played for the US National Team while her uncle Eric also played for the US National Team  ... favorites include former pro beach player Misty May-Treanor, actors Will Ferrell and Emma Watson, the movie "Step Brothers", the TV show "The Office" and her mom's chicken piccata ... says the toughest thing about being an athlete is "balancing school, family and friends" ... enjoys going to the beach in her spare time ... majoring in Kinesiology.
