2022-23 (SOPHOMORE): Started six times in playing all 31 games..averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 rebounds in 17.8 minutes per game...made 46-of-148 field goal attempts (31.1%)...connected on 26-of-89 three-point field goal attempts (29.2%)...was 16-of-18 from the free throw line (88.9%)...recorded 20 assists, 15 steals, and four blocks...hit the game-tying three-pointer with less than five seconds remaning at CSU Bakersfield on Feb. 23...posted a season-best 10 points at San Diego on Dec. 6 and again at home against Cal Poly on Dec. 29...an Academic All-Conference selection.
2021-22 (FRESHMAN): Appeared in 22 games, playing 223 minutes...averaged 3.8 points and 1.0 rebounds per game...made 17 three-point field goals, the fifth-most on the team...scored a season-high 20 points at Hawai'i in the regular season finale on Mar. 3...tallied four three-point field goals against the Rainbow Wahine, a season-best...posted six assists, five steals, and one block.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2021 graduate of Spring Lake Park High School…coach was Randy Eatherton…led her teams to three state tournament appearances and two conference titles…a three-time All-Conference selection…named honorable mention All-Conference as a freshman…scored over 1,000 points in prep career and finished with a 16.3 points per game average…was ranked No. 45 by Minnesota Prep Girls in the Class of 2021 and No. 57 by the Minnesota Junior All-Star in the Class of 2021…selected Academic All-State in both 11th and 12th grade…a member of the National Honors Society in ninth, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades…a member of the Spanish National Honors Society in the 10th grade…her Tayler Hill Elite (AAU Team) won the Nike Nationals in 2019.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Scott and Mickie Smith…a Africana Studies major...favorites include the Brooklyn Nets, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, Will Ferrell, Melissa McCarthy, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Crazy Rich Asians, Chicken and S’Mores, Destiny’s Child, Lil Baby, and Polo G...chose CSUN because she said it had exactly what she was looking for in a college, a good balance of academics and high-level athletics and she loved the campus and made great connections with the coaching staff…says greatest sports moments so far are scoring in the Minnesota State Tournament as a seventh grader and scoring her 1000th career point as a junior…says the best thing about being an athlete is the hard work you put in always pays off and being able to play the sport you love is the best…says the worst thing about being an athlete are the trials you will face, it can be very difficult to get through poor performances and losses but if you work hard and stay committed you will overcome those obstacles…says the best athlete she has played against is Paige Bueckers...the most famous person she has met is Kevin Love…the person in history she would like to meet is Kobe Bryant…says the most interesting thing about her is that her middle name is Tyler, after Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, her father’s favorite band…says her greatest heroes are her parents as they have taught her to never give up on her dreams and encouraged her to always believe in herself…says they would do anything to see her happy and successful.
