Katelin King joins the CSUN women's basketball staff as a student assistant in the 2016-17 season. A two-year letterwinner with the Matadors, King medically retired from NCAA competition following the completion of the 2015-16 season. She will handle film work and other administrative responsibilities for the Matadors.Â
A product of West Sacramento, CA, King joined CSUN in the 2013-14 season after a standout prep career at River City High School and her father, Jamie. She sat out her first season due to injury, but helped CSUN in numerous ways to the 2014 Big West Championship in both the regular season and the tournament as CSUN earned its second berth ever to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.Â
King appeared in 26 games and made one start as a redshirt freshman in 2014-15. She averaged 4.1 points and 1.1 rebounds per game for the season and scored a career-high 16 points, including five 3-pointers, in Matadors’ victory at Seattle. Again, she was instrumental in helping lead CSUN to its second consecutive Big West Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.Â
In 2015-16, King appeared in and started 15 games as a redshirt sophomore. She averaged 5.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game and set season highs in points (17), field goals (5) and 3-pointers (5) in a contest at UC Riverside.Â
