Caroline Gilling joins the CSUN women's basketball as a student assistant for the 2016-17 season. A two-year letterwinner for the Matadors, Gilling medically retired from NCAA competition after the completion of the 2015-16 season. Gilling will handle film work and other administrative responsibilities for the Matadors.Â
A native of Rungsted Kyst, Denmark, Gilling joined the Matadors in the 2014-15 season. She appeared in 29 games and made four starts for CSUN in her freshman season, averaging 2.4 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. She helped CSUN win its second-straight Big West Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
In the 2015-16 season, Gilling appeared in 18 games and made three starts as a sophomore. She averaged 2.0 points and 1.7 rebounds per game and scored a career-high 11 points, four field goals and three 3-pointers at Arizona State.Â
