Haley Walz completed her first season on the CSUN Women's Volleyball coaching staff in 2024. In Walz's first season on the bench, the Matadors won 10 matches, CSUN's highest total since winning 12 times in 2019.
Walz came to CSUN from the University of Arizona, where she served as Director of Volleyball Operations during the 2023 season.
At Arizona, she was responsible for the day-to-day operations for both the Wildcats’ indoor and beach programs while also supervising student workers and planning/coordinating summer camps.
She also worked as a Sports Performance Coach at New Athlete in Vancouver, Wash., from 2022-23, and served as the Communications Director and Volleyball Supervisor for the Underdog Sports League in Portland, Ore., during the same period.
A 2021 graduate of Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., Walz earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology before earning her master’s degree in athletic administration from the University of Cincinnati in 2024.
During a decorated four-year career with the Boxers, Walz was named Northwest Conference Libero of the Year and Freshman of the Year in 2018. She would go on to earn honorable mention All-Northwest Conference honors in 2019 when she finished the season with 488 digs, 35 aces, and 66 assists.
"I knew early on that Haley would be successful in whatever she pursued, as I had the luxury of recruiting and coaching her during her collegiate career,” added Montoya. "Luckily for us, she wants to keep pursuing collegiate coaching and will thrive in this scenario. With her experience in multiple levels of collegiate volleyball, she will be a huge part in the training of our first contact."
