Katie Sato was one of three players to appear in all 28 matches and 109 sets for the Matadors in 2016 ... started all 28 matches at libero ... earned honorable mention All-Big West accolades ... posted a career-high 464 digs which led the Matadors and ranks fifth in CSUN history and fourth in the Matadors' rally scoring era ... ranked second in the Big West in digs (464) and was fourth in digs per set (4.26) ... heads into her final season with 929 career digs (10th in CSUN's rally scoring) and a career digs per set average of 3.34 (fourth in rally scoring) ... ranked second on the team with a career-high 21 aces and was third on the team with 48 assists ... now has 52 career aces ... was the team leader or co-leader in digs in 26 of CSUN's 28 matches ... posted a career-high 34 digs in CSUN's 3-2 win over Rhode Island (Aug. 26) ... had 24 digs and a career-high four aces against Pepperdine (Aug. 27) ... was a two-time Big West Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 26, Oct. 31) ... was one of five Matadors named to the 2016 Big West All-Academic Team.

Sato appeared in 25 matches and 90 sets in her second season at CSUN ... started 21 matches at either libero or defensive specialist ... was CSUN's leader in digs with a career-high 328 ... her digs per set average of 3.64 ranked seventh in the Big West ... heads into her junior season with 465 career digs (2.75 dps) ... ranked second on the team with 13 aces and was fourth with 55 assists ... led the team in digs 18 times in 28 matches ... had at least 20 digs in four matches, including up a career-high 33 digs in CSUN's 3-2 win at Cal State Fullerton (Nov. 21) ... scooped up 26 digs against St. Mary's (Sept. 10) and had 24 against LIU-Brooklyn (Sept. 19) ... was named to the Days Inn and Suites Lobo Invitational All-Tournament Team ... matched her career-high with three aces in the season opener vs. Lipscomb (Aug. 28) ... was one of three CSUN student-athletes named to the Big West All-Academic Team.
CSUN - 2014 (Freshman)
Sato appeared in 25 matches and 79 sets during her first season ... started seven matches ... was primarily a serving and defensive specialist for the Matadors ... ranked fourth on the team with 18 aces (0.23 saps) and was also fourth in digs with 137 (1.73 dps) ... posted double figures in digs three times including a season-high 14 digs against UC Davis (Oct. 24) ... had 13 digs, three assists, one ace and one kill in CSUN's 3-2 win at UNLV (Aug. 30) ... posted a career-high three aces against both UNLV (Aug. 29) and Alabama State (Sept. 5).
AGOURA HIGH SCHOOL
Sato earned four varsity letters as both an outside hitter and libero at Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, Calif. ... was a first team All-Marmonte League selection in both 2011 and 2013, a second team pick in 2012 and a third team honoree as a freshman in 2010 ... was named team Most Valuable Player three times in four years (2011-13) and was honored as Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 ... the Chargers finished with a 24-6 record under coach Brock Redmond in 2013 ... graduated in 2014 with a 3.65 grade point average.
PERSONAL
Born June 25, 1996 in Calabasas, CA ... parents are Sandra and Gary Sato ... has one older brother, Andrew who plays for Long Beach State and one younger sister, Malia ... comes from a rich volleyball family; her father played collegiate volleyball at UC Santa Barbara and coached CSUN head coach Jeff Stork at Pepperdine, her aunt Liane played at UCSB and San Diego State and played for the US National Team while her uncle Eric also played for the US National Team ... favorites include former pro beach player Misty May-Treanor, actors Will Ferrell and Emma Watson, the movie "Step Brothers", the TV show "The Office" and her mom's chicken piccata ... says the toughest thing about being an athlete is "balancing school, family and friends" ... enjoys going to the beach in her spare time ... majoring in Kinesiology.
