Candice Vorbeck completed her first season as an assistant coach to the CSUN Water Polo team in 2022-23.
Vorbeck helped the Matadors to a winning season in 2023 including the team's most wins (17) in nine seasons. During the year, Dorottya Telek broke the school's single-season goal record and tied the Big West's scoring record with 101 goals. The Matador trio of Telek, Anna Pal and Shelby Hovanesian also earned All-American accolades following the season.
Vorbeck joined the Matadors after serving as assistant men's and women's water polo coach as well as the men's club coach at McKendree University in 2021-22. She helped lead both varsity teams to winning seasons last year including a 16-win season on the women's side. She also worked with two All-American honorees on the men's team this past season.
Vorbeck previously served as the assistant coach for the men's and women's teams at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges from 2018-21. She played a role in the women's team winning two Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) regular season championships and one SCIAC tournament title in addition to reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2018. On the men's side, she would help guide the team to the regular season title and conference tournament championship, culminating in a trip to the 2018 NCAA Tournament. She was a member of the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year as well in 2018.
While with Pomona-Pitzer, Vorbeck was also the head coach of the Bonita High School girls water polo team and an assistant to the boys team from 2017-20. During her time with Bonita, Vorbeck helped coach the Bearcats to five CIF Division III tournament appearances.
Vorbeck was previously the head coach of the Foothill Club Water Polo 10-U Team and the 12-U girls team at Huntington Beach Water Polo Club from 2015-16, leading her team to a gold medal victory in the platinum division at the 2016 Junior Olympics.
Vorbeck also was named the inaugural head coach of the Ladue Horton Watkins High School girls team in St. Louis, Mo. in the spring 2021 season.
A St. Louis native, Vorbeck prepped for Eureka High School and Lafayette High School, and lettered in both water polo and swimming all four years. She earned a host awards during her high school career including receiving Missouri Female Player of the Year honors from 2012-14. Vorbeck went on to play water polo at Golden West College in Huntington Beach for two seasons before transferring to the University of La Verne to finish her collegiate career. She helped lead the Leopards to a second-place finish at the SCIAC Conference Tournament in 2016.
Vorbeck earned a degree in biology from the University of La Verne in 2021.
