
Offensive Outburst Leads No. 9 CSUN Past Pomona-Pitzer, Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. -
The No. 9 CSUN Matadors (9-5) continued to pour in goals in a pair of matches on Sunday afternoon, defeating both Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands to finish the weekend with three victories. The Matadors started strong to defeat the Sagehens 15-10 in the morning before cruising past the host Bulldogs 18-4.
CSUN has put together its second three-match win streak of the season and will look to carry its momentum into next weekend's UC Irvine Invitational before the start of the Big West Conference slate begins in March.
Pomona-Pitzer Recap
The Matadors started the day off on the right foot, jumping out to a 5-1 lead on the Sagehens after the first quarter. The team led 8-4 at halftime and matched Pomona-Pitzer the rest of the way to secure a 15-10 victory.
Amy Yule led the team with four goals on five shots and also had a steal. Both Kelcy Barott and Marisa Young had hat tricks while MacKenzy Fowler had a team-high three assists.
Kelcie Ferreira and Madeline Sanchez each had two goals in the match and McKenzie Pollei scored a goal and had a pair of steals. Goalkeeper Natalie Averell had four saves and an assist in three quarters of action.

Redlands Recap
The Matadors kept up the intensity in the second match of the day and turned in the team's best-scoring margin of the season in beating Redlands 18-4. CSUN scored nine goals in the opening frame, a season high, and allowed just one goal over the final 24 minutes of the contest.
Yule again had four goals to lead CSUN as 11 different players scored at least once. Sanchez, Barott and Shannon Hovanesian had two goals apiece while goalkeeper Niki Van Vugt had a season-high nine saves.
Ferreira, Fowler, Amy Fuller, Alexis Elias, Carly Wickman, Emily Fuller and Paula Abellan Garcia all scored a goal and Sanchez led the team with four assists.
