CSUN Announces 2027 Water Polo Schedule

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN women's water polo head coach Matt Warshaw has released the 2027 schedule, featuring six home matches at Matador Pool and a host of matchups with nationally-ranked opponents.
The Matadors begin the season with a road clash with defending national champion USC while CSUN will face at least 11 teams that finished last season ranked in the national top-25.Â
"We're excited to challenge ourselves this spring with a demanding road schedule," said Warshaw who enters his 11th year leading the program. "Facing a top-ranked USC team early in the season will be a great test and gives us an opportunity to see where we are as a team. We'll be prepared and ready for the gauntlet that is Big West women's water polo. Our non-conference schedule offers a little bit of everything, including matchups against top-ranked opponents such as Michigan, Indiana and San José State."
CSUN's 2027 opener is set for Saturday, Jan. 23, when the Matadors face off with host USC and Pomona-Pitzer at Uytengsu Aquatics Center. From there, the second week of the season will take CSUN to Cal Lutheran on Jan. 30.Â
The schedule also features the Matadors heading to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a multi-team invite from Feb. 6-7. On day one, CSUN squares off with LIU and Mount St. Mary's before meeting Indiana and Marist on day two. CSUN will also compete at Santa Clara's Bronco Invitational from Feb. 12-13 with matchups set against host Santa Clara, Michigan, McKendree and San José State.Â
The 2027 Big West opener is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, with the Matadors traveling to perennial Big West power UC Irvine.
The Matadors will host a mini invite on March 4 at Matador Pool as CSUN takes on Villanova and McKendree in the three-team event. A day later, CSUN begins a two-day stay at the Convergence Tournament, hosted by Pomona-Pizter, Claremont Mudd-Scripps and Occidental from March 5-6.Â
CSUN hosts a season-long three-game homestand, beginning with its Big West home opener against defending league champion Hawai'i on March 7. The following weekend, the Matadors will take on UC San Diego (March 12) and Cal State Fullerton (March 14) to conclude the home stretch.Â
After CSUN travels to Long Beach State (March 21), CSUN hosts new Big West team California Baptist on Senior Day on March 27. From there, the Matadors conclude the regular season with another Big West match at UC Santa Barbara on April 3.Â
The 2027 Big West Women's Water Polo Championship will be hosted by UC San Diego this season at Canyonview Aquatic Center from April 9-11.Â
