CSUN Sweeps Westmont to Remain Perfect

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---The CSUN women's tennis team (6-0) defeated Westmont College 7-0 Thursday afternoon at Matador Tennis Complex. CSUN was able to flex its depth in a match that saw several Matadors make their 2015 debuts.Â
"I was glad to see all our players get a chance to play," CSUN head coach Gary Victor said. "Everyone works hard in practice and today was a great opportunity for Corinne, Leslie, Samantha and Mari"Â
Corinne Schnyder and Mari Taslagyan teamed together in No. 2 doubles and posted a 6-2 victory. In the top doubles draw, Mickey Hsu and Kristen Poei improved to a perfect 6-0 on the year with a 6-0 victory.Â
Finally, juniors Leslie Chang and Samantha Judan posted a 6-1 victory in the third doubles draw. The victory was Judan's first as a Matador.Â
In singles, CSUN did not lose a set to the Warriors. Schnyder won in straight sets in the fourth draw while only losing one game in her season debut. Chang won a tough 6-4, 7-5 decision in the fifth draw and Judan completed a perfect debut with a 6-1, 6-3 win.Â
At 6-0, CSUN is off to its best start since the 2001 team started 11-0. At 4-0 against Division I opponents, the Matadors are off to their best start since the 2008 season.Â
CSUN returns to action on Friday, Mar. 6 with a match against Nevada.Â
