CSUN Sits Ninth After Two Rounds in Palm Desert

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The CSUN women's golf team opened the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate Saturday and are currently ninth after 36 holes at The Classic Club.
The Matadors opened with first round 317 before carding a team score of 311 in the afternoon. CSUN's 36-hole total of 628 is good for ninth in the 12-team field. Santa Clara holds the team lead through two rounds at 590.
Freshman Alice Duan is the Matadors' low scorer after two rounds as she is tied for 23rd at 10-over 154. Duan overcame an early double bogey and was even through 13 holes in the second round before closing with a double bogey, a birdie and par to finish at three-over 75. Duan finished round one at seven-over 79.
Several CSUN players are bunched in the middle of the pack as Shenna DeLeon, Cake Phuchanbanchob and Ysabel Tran are all separated by just two strokes.Â
DeLeon is tied for 34th at 13-over 157 following rounds of 79-75, Phuchanbanchob is tied for 37th at 14-over 158 after posting scores of 79-79 and Tran is tied for 40th at 15-over 159 following rounds of 80-79.
Freshman Brianna Steger made her CSUN debut Saturday and is tied for 52nd at 19-over 163 after posting scores of 81-82.
Santa Clara's Annie Freman holds the individual lead by four shots heading into Sunday's final round.
CSUN will tee off the final round at 7:30 a.m.
