Snyder completed the final round at one-under 71 to put himself in contention but wound up tied for third, his best ever conference finish and CSUN's best since Kyler Sauer tied for second in 2014. The senior from Westlake Village had four birdies on the front nine and made the turn at four-under. A double bogey five at No. 17 capped a stretch that dropped Snyder to even par but he rebounded to birdie No. 18 to get to one-under 71 for the day and one-under 215 for the championship.
Snyder and teammate Felix Mory both finished in the top six but the Matadors could not get a third or fourth score on Wednesday to move up on the team leaderboard. Still CSUN's team score of 883 (294-290-299) was good for its best Big West finish since taking third in 2011.
Mory, who began the day sixth at even-par for the tournament, carded a final round one-over 73 to finish in a tie for sixth at one-over 217. Mory was one-under after three holes before a quadruple bogey eight on No. 4 dropped him to three-over. Three more birdies and one bogey over the final 13 holes pulled him to one-over on the day.
Sophomore Luis Calderon, who was also in contention after a three-under 69 on Tuesday, posted a final round six-over 78 to drop from a tie for third into a tie for 22nd. After posting five birdies on Tuesday, Calderon had a single birdie on Wednesday which came on his final hole of the tournament. His three round score of five-over 221 was Calderon's lowest of the season.
Junior Sam Engel posted his second consecutive round of five-over 77 Wednesday to finish tied for 41st at 17-over 223 while Tavit Garabedian finished 44th at 21-over 237 after posting rounds of 77-76-84.
UC Riverside (862) held off Cal Poly (865) to capture the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship while UC Santa Barbara's Brandon Bauman (-4, 212) claimed the Big West individual title by a single shot over Cal Poly's Cole Nygren (-3, 213).
