NORTHRIDGE, CA ---
CSUN men's soccer head coach Terry Davila announced that Zach Feldman has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. A former CSUN letterwinner who recently completed his eighth season on Davila's staff, Feldman has been instrumental in the Matadors' recent success.Â
Â
"We are extremely proud to announce this promotion for Coach Feldman," said Davila. "Zach has worked extremely hard and proven his merit with his technical and tactical abilities as a coach. On the practice field, he is a vocal leader who motivates our players through his work rate. He is one of the brightest young coaches in college soccer and we are happy to have him on our side."
Â
In 2016, Feldman helped lead CSUN to the Big West South Division and Big West Tournament Championship. In all, Feldman has been associated with six of CSUN's eight NCAA Division I Tournament appearances as a player or a coach.
Â
Working with the defenders predominantly, Feldman helped Trevor Morley (2015) and Patrick Hickman (2016) earn consecutive Big West Defensive Player of the Year honors. This past year, senior Gabe Robinson joined Hickman on the All-Big West team and the Matadors also boasted the league's Goalkeeper of the Year in senior Kevin Marquez.
Â
"Zach communicates extremely well and does not hold back. He understands the level of play I am capable of performing at and when I am not doing that, he is the first one to let me know that the effort is unacceptable," Hickman said. "Being a younger coach, his enthusiasm is great for younger players, especially defenders, as he helps them get ready to make the leap from club and high school."
Â
As a player, Feldman was a team captain in 2004 and 2005 and lead the Matadors to a Sweet Sixteen berth in the NCAA College Cup during his senior campaign. Prior to playing for CSUN, Feldman laced up for the Conquistadors of El Camino Real High School, winning City Championships in 1999 and 2001, being named the L.A. City Player of the Year by both the Daily News and Los Angeles Times as a senior.
Â
In addition to his time as an assistant at CSUN, Feldman is a coach with Real SoCal Soccer Club for the Boys Under-9 team. He is also a head trainer with the US Academy U-18 squad and is the head coach for L.A. Maccabi Soccer.
