EUGENE, Ore. – At the NCAA Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., all five competing Matadors earned All-American honors, with senior thrower Monique Griffiths accomplishing the feat in two events. Griffiths finished
Veale in the 4x100m relay
11th in the women's hammer and 16th in the women's discus. The women's 4x100m made up of Lexis Lambert, Courtney Robinson, Asheley Bamberg and Marie Veale became All-Americans after finishing 10th in their race on Thursday.
Â
"To have everyone who went to Nationals earn All-American honors is tremendous," said Head Track & Field Coach Avery Anderson. "One All-American honor is great in itself, but for Monique to earn that distinction in two events is truly remarkable.
Â
"For the 4x1 to place as high as 10th in the nation shows the caliber of athletes in this group of women," Anderson added. "Lexis had a remarkable season and a magnificent career including multiple All-American honors now."

Lambert comes out of the blocks to start the 400m
In competition Thursday at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, Griffiths threw 63.24m in the hammer throw. She just barely missed the top nine, which would've earned her a final throw and a chance to improve her mark one last time. Her finish earned her second-team All-American honors, the second time in her career she's been named an All-American in the hammer throw.
Â
Lambert, Robinson, Bamberg and Veale finished 10th in the semifinals of the women's 4x100m dash on Thursday to miss qualifying for Saturday's finals by just two spots and only .17 seconds. Their time of 44.44 seconds earned the quartet second-team All-American honors as well.
Â
Lambert also competed in the 400m on Thursday, and she ran a 53.91 to finish sixth in her heat.
In the discus throw finals on Saturday, Griffiths threw 53.33m in the first flight for 16th place overall. She was ranked as high as second during first flight competition and finishing 16th nabbed her the final All-American spot for the discus and second team honors.
