CSUN completed a day one sweep of Marucci Desert Classic play with a 11-1 victory over the University of South Dakota Friday night.

Jocelin Soto's sac fly plated Journey Rojas in the bottom of the second to break the seal. Raquel Jaime's with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third drove in a pair of runs. Soto's second sac fly of the game allowed Rojas to score again for a 4-0 CSUN advantage.

The Matadors began to pour it on in the fourth. Savannah Horvath tallied her fourth home run of the season, a two-run blast expanded the CSUN lead. Rojas added a two-RBI double to create an 8-0 Matadors' lead. The Coyotes' lone run came in the fifth on two CSUN errors on the same play. Ty Cueva put an end to the game in the sixth with a three-run home run.

CSUN starter Taylor Troost earned the complete game victory. Troost allowed just three hits and struck out seven in six innings of work. Rojas was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Horvath, Mackenzie Babbitt, Kira Cauley, and Jaime each posted two hits.

"We came ready to play," said CSUN head coach Tairia Flowers. "We hit the ball well and Taylor Troost threw a good game for us. The goal is to take this momentum into tomorrow."

CSUN (3-4) takes on FIU at 11:15 a.m. and Idaho State at 3:45 p.m. on day two of the tournament for the Matadors.
