CSUN At No. 3/4 UCLA Tuesday; Hosts CSF This Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN steps out of Big West Conference softball play for the final time Tuesday when CSUN travels to No. 3/4 UCLA.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. There will be an audio call of the game via UCLABruins.com. At 31-2, the Bruins are ranked third in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll and fourth in the ESPN/USA Softball Top 25 poll.
As a team, UCLA leads Division I in hitting (.369), on-base percentage (.450), and scoring (7.48 runs per game). Aaliyah Jordan is fourth in Division I in batting as she is hitting at a .490 clip. She is third in D-1 in RBIs per game (1.39). This will be the 55th time between CSUN and UCLA with the Bruins leading the all-time series 44-10.

CSUN welcomes Cal State Fullerton this weekend for a three-game series. Saturday will feature a doubleheader that is set for 1 p.m. It is CSUN Athletics Day on Saturday as the first 150 fans through the gate will receive a free visor. Sunday's play also begins at 1 p.m. Menchie's Yogurt will be given away for free on Sunday.

Brandon Marcus will have an audio call on the CSUN Sports Network presented by Dignity Health for each of the three games against Cal State Fullerton. Saturday's opener and Sunday's game will feature a CSUN Sports Network presented by Dignity Health video stream. Live stats are scheduled for each of the games this week. Cal State Fullerton opened Big West play last week with a three-game sweep of UC Santa Barbara. The Titans enter the week with an 18-19 overall record. Deshea Hill is fifth in the Big West in hitting (.395). Brooke Clemetson is fifth in the league in runs scored (33).

In the circle, Sophie Frost is fifth in the conference in earned run average (1.75) while Taylor Dockins is ninth (2.96). Both Frost and Dockins have won seven games this season. This will be the 112th, 113th, and 114th meetings between CSUN and Cal State Fullerton. The Titans lead the all-time series 72-38-1.

The Matadors went 1-2 on the opening weekend of Big West play against UC Davis Mar. 30-31. CSUN defeated UC Davis 4-3 on Friday before being swept by the Aggies (6-3, 8-0) on Saturday. Savannah Horvath became the all-time home run leader for the Matadors as she hit her 47th against UC Davis in game one on Saturday. She broke the old mark of 46 that was set by Scia Maumausolo's (1993-96).

Horvath is now tied for second in Big West history in the category (with Cal State Fullerton's Yasmin Mossadeghi, 1999-02) and is six away from tying Darian Tautalafua's (Long Beach State, 53, 2013-16) league record. She is currently 10th among active Division I players in the category.

Kira Cauley hit .429 during the UC Davis series, posting two doubles. Haileigh Gonzalez also charted two doubles against the Aggies, hitting .375 for the weekend. Jillian James was 1-1 with six strikeouts in 11.1 innings and two appearances during the weekend.
