CSUN Hosts UC Santa Barbara This Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—After two weeks on the road, the CSUN softball team returns home this weekend when the Matadors host UC Santa Barbara. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. with Sunday's series finale is also set for 1 p.m.

Brandon Marcos' coverage on The CSUN Sports Network presented by Dignity Health gets underway at 12:50 p.m. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. Each day. Video, audio, and live stats are scheduled for each of the games this week. All links can be found on GoMatadors.com on the softball page. On Saturday, the first 250 fans through the turnstiles will receive a free CSUN water bottle. On Sunday, Menchies' Yogurt will be given away.

The Gauchos' (17-28, 4-8 Big West) Sierra Altmeyer and Alyssa Diaz are tied for fifth in the Big West in home runs (5). Sammy Fabian is eighth in the conference in hitting (.346). Emily Schuttish is ninth in the conference in ERA (2.76).

This will be the 107th, 108th, and 109th meetings between CSUN and UCSB with the Matadors leading the all-time series 65-40-1.

The Matadors (18-29, 3-9 Big West) dropped three games at Cal Poly last weekend by a total of five runs. The Mustangs defeated CSUN 5-2, 3-2, and 1-0 last weekend. Mackenzie Babbitt hit .444 in San Luis Obispo while Jessica Alexander was .364 at the plate with a home run. Jillian James struck out seven in 12 innings at Cal Poly.
