Mory Takes Third, CSUN Fifth at Seattle Redhawk Invitational

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Senior Felix Mory posted his team-leading fifth top-10 finish of the season Tuesday while the Matador men's golf team finished fifth at the conclusion of the Seattle University Redhawk Invitaional at Chambers Bay G.C.
Mory, who began the final round in a tie for third, fired an even-par round of 71 to finish alone in third at five-over 221, his second straight top-five finish. Mory, who has a team-leading 71.5 scoring average, leads CSUNÂ with five top-10 finishes to go with three other top-20 showings.
Fellow senior Trym Falch narrowly missed his first top-10 finish of the season but did record his first top-20 finish by tying for 12th at 10-over 223. After posting rounds of 76-75 on Monday, Falch carded a one-over round of 72 on Tuesday to move up from 22nd to 12th.
Joey Varnam had his best tournament of the season, tying for 29th at 13-over 226. Varnam opened with rounds of 77-74 for his low 36-hole total of the season, before closing a four-over 75. Also for the Matadors, Luis Calderon and Michael Zhang each tied for 76th at 27-over 240. Calderon finished with rounds of 79-82-79 while Zhang posted scores of 84-79-77.
CSUN's fifth place team finish was its first top-five showing of the season and is the Matadors second straight top-10 finish after taking ninth at the GCU Invitational last week. The Matadors have two tournaments remaining before the Big West Championship at the end of April.
