Judkins in the Top-15, CSUN 8th After One Round of Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. - Junior Liam Judkins fired an opening round 2-under 70 and is tied for 15th, while the CSUN Men's Golf team is tied for eighth after the opening round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational on Thursday at The Reserve Park.
The Matadors opened with a team round of 3-over 291, one shot off their season-low for 18 holes this season. CSUN heads into Friday's second round 10 shots out of the top five. Colorado and Pacific share the team lead at 12-under 276 and San Diego's Ian Maspal is the individual leader at 8-under 64.
Judkins, who began the day at No. 10, birdied five of his first seven holes to get to 3-under. He remained 3-under through 15 holes before finishing his final three holes at 1-over to finish up a 2-under round of 70.Â

"Overall, I thought we played ok, all the guys in the lineup played well. The 15th hole played was really slow today, and the last three holes after that took a toll on us. We need to be in the 280's as a team tomorrow, which I know we're more than capable of doing."Â

- Following Judkins, sophomore Nick Fry is tied for 39th at 1-over 73. Fry was 3-over on his front nine before finishing 2-under on his final nine to finish at 1-over.
- Junior Ethan Posthumus and sophomore Bryson Barnes are each among 11 players tied for 51st at 2-over 74. Barnes carded five birdies in round one, while Posthumus had four in his debut in the CSUN lineup.Â
- Tavin Boman rounded out the Matador lineup and is tied for 66th at 4-over 76.Â
- Domenic De Luca, competing as an individual, is also tied for 51st at 2-over 74.
