Barnes Moves into Top 10, CSUN Slips to 16th at Air Force Falcon Invitational

AFA, Colo. - Sophomore Bryson Barnes fired a 2-under par 70 to move into the top 10, while the CSUN Men's Golf team is tied for 16th after two rounds of Air Force's Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Sunday at Eisenhower Golf Course.
After posting an opening round 7-over 295, the Matadors carded a 2-over 290 in Sunday's second round but slipped from 13th into a tie for 16th at 9-over 585. Gonzaga took over as the team leader at 11-under 565, one shot ahead of Idaho. Utah Valley's Paxton Maxwell took the individual lead on Sunday at 9-under 135.
Barnes, who began the day tied for 14th place after a 1-under 71 on Saturday, had a virtually error-free round on Sunday. He carded five birdies to go with 10 pars, one bogey, and one double bogey to finish the day at 2-under 70. Barnes heads into Monday's final round tied for ninth at 3-under 141, just two shots out of the top five.

- Following Barnes, sophomore Nick Fry moved up 77th into a tie for 64th following an even-par 72 in round two. Fry also had five birdies on Sunday to sit at 4-over 148 through two rounds.
- Junior Dillon Jonke and sophomore Tavin Boman are tied for 76th at 5-over 149. Jonke had four birdies on Sunday to post a 4-over 76, while Boman had just a pair of birdies but finished the day at 2-over 74.
- Domenic De Luca rounded out the CSUN scoring as he is tied for 90th at 7-over 151. De Luca followed up Saturday's round of 5-over 77 with a 2-over 74 on Sunday.
- Three Matadors are competing in the individual tournament with junior Liam Judkins (-6, 138) jumping from sixth into a two for second after a 4-under 68 in round two. Ethan Posthumus (-3, 141) is also in the top 10, as he sits 10th following a 1-ver 73 in round two. at 4-under 68. Senior Yuo Torii is also 32nd at 6-over 150 following rounds of 78-72.
