CSUN Makes The Trip To Hawai'i This Weekend

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN (20-33, 5-10 Big West) travels to Hawai'i for a three-game series this weekend.

Friday's single game begins at 9 p.m. PDT/6 p.m. HST. Saturday's doubleheader is set for 5 p.m. PDT/2 p.m. HST. Video, audio, and live stats are scheduled for each of the games this week. All links can be found on GoMatadors.com on the softball page.

The Rainbow Wahine begin the week with a 21-23 overall record and are tied for sixth in the Big West with CSUN and UC Santa Barbara with a 5-10 league record.

Cailee Heen is the team leader and is eighth in the Big West in hitting with a .339 batting average. Heen is second in the league in home runs (13) and is sixth in the conference in RBI (32). Dana Thomsen is 10th in the Big West in ERA (3.09). Thomsen is 13-14 this season, ranking her in top 10 in the league in both wins and losses this season (fourth in

CSUN's Jessica Alexander was named Big West Softball Field Player of the Week Apr. 30.

Alexander earned her second career Big West honor by hitting .600 as the Matadors took 2-of-3 from UC Santa Barbara Apr. 28-29. Alexander recorded six hits in 10 at-bats and slugged 1.000 as the Matadors scored 26 runs while winning two out of three games against the Gauchos.

The third baseman scored at least one run and had at least one hit in all three contests. She tallied five runs scored and four RBI for the series. Alexander blasted her third home run of the year – a two-run shot – to punctuate an 8-1 victory over the Gauchos in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.

In Sunday's rubber game, a 13-5 win, she went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI. She doubled, walked and stole a base in an all-around productive performance. She recorded a pair of hits in a 9-5 loss to UCSB in the series opener.
