Glover & Horvath Enjoy Successful Summers

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—A pair of former CSUN softball players enjoyed a successful Summer as the inaugural American Softball Association campaign ended July 30.

2017 Big West Softball MVP Taylor Glover led the Outkast club through the wildcard game to earn the ASBA's title. Glover hit .467 with two home runs and five RBI during the playoffs. Glover scored five runs in four games and stole two bases.

Glover led the league in total bases with 66. She finished the regular season second in the ASBA in hitting (.427), hits (38), and doubles (7). Glover was fifth in the league in slugging percentage (.742), and on-base percentage (.469).

Glover's Outkast squad defeated Savannah Horvath's Mo-BEEL USA!'s team 3-1 in the championship game. Horvath led Mo-Beel USA! to the regular season title with a 17-10 record. Horvath was named MVP of the league's first All-Star game on July 21. She was 3-for-10 in three play-off games with a home run and five runs batted in.

Horvath did not take part in the first week of the season as she was a part of CSUN Student-Athlete's Service trip to Costa Rica. Despite missing the first four of the 27-game season, Horvath tied for the ABSA lead in home runs (10) with two other players. Horvath concluded the regular season as the league leader in slugging (.855).

The Las Vegas native was second in the ASBA in RBI (29), tied for third with Glover in runs scored (24), third in total bases (59), fourth in batting average (.391), fourth in on-base percentage (.477), and fifth in hits (27).

Both players were named to the ASBA All-Defensive team Aug. 7. The duo were both selected first team All-ASBA on Aug. 14. Both are in the running for individual league honors that will be announced during the month of August.Â
