HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was a defensive struggle as CSUN and SCU were scoreless after 45 minutes. The Matadors outshot the Broncos 5-3, 2-1 on goal. Neither team allowed a corner kick in the first half.
- Santa Clara (6-3-1) broke the seal at the 72:11 mark. Alejandro Barajas sent a cross into the box where Javier Ruiz Duran found the back of the net for his second goal of the season.
- CSUN went a man up in the 85th minute when Sakari Carter was issued his second yellow of the match for a tackle which resulted in a red card. A little over a minute later, Omar Grey's attempt was saved by SCU goalie Guillermo Badenes Mecho.
- Santa Clara scored an insurance goal in the 89th minute as Julian Bravo took advantage of a CSUN turnover in front of the goal which he converted for his second of the season.

ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH TERRY DAVILA
- "They scored, we didn't. We didn't do enough to win the game. Tip your hat to Santa Clara for staying in the game and getting the result."
