NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—CSUN split with California Baptist in a doubleheader to conclude the CSUN/Loyola Marymount Tournament Sunday afternoon.

GAME 1
- Pinch hitter Alyssa Vazquez doubled in Journey Rojas in the top of the seventh, giving CSUN a 2-1 victory to begin the day.
- With two outs in the top of the third, Jaymi Steward reached on an error. After advancing to second on an illegal pitch, Steward scored on a Kira Cauley single.
- Pinch hitter Cheyann Tucker led off the bottom of the sixth with an opposite field single to right. Cailtyn Lloyd followed with a walk. Deanna Alarcon successfully sacrificed the runners up a base.
- Halle Rosario drove in the tying run with a single and she advanced to second when the Matadors missed the cut-off throw towards home. Mackenzie Budlinger lined out to short for the second out. Amanda Argomaniz grounded out to short to end the inning.
- Pinch hitter Journey Rojas began the CSUN seventh with a double to left. Kiarra Crockett-Pope failed to lay down a sac bunt, going down 0-2 in the count before Kelley Springstead induced a ground out to short.
- Vazquez's double was in the gap in left center allowing Rojas to score. Steward flew out to left to bring up Cauley who fouled out to conclude the inning.
- CSUN starter Jillian struck out the first two California Baptist batters of the bottom of the seventh. Pinch hitter Alyssa Beck fouled out to Jessica Alexander at third for the final out of the game.
- Cauley had two of the six hits for the Matadors (2-for-4). Rosario charted two of the four CBU hits (2-for-3) in addition to her RBI. James struck out five in picking up her sixth complete of the year. The Las Vegas, Nev. native improved to 8-5 on the year.
GAME 2
- California Baptist defeated CSUN 7-6 in the nightcap.
- Cauley tripled to lead off the Matadors' first. She scored with one out on a Megan Stevens single.
- The Lancers put the first two batters of the top of the second on base. Anise Avalos grounded in a 1-5 fielder's choice for the first out. CSUN starter Kenedee Jamerson struck out Cheyann Tucker.
- Shelby Arbeiter singled to right to tie the game. Sophia Perea flew out to left to keep the game tied.
- Two consecutive CSUN errors with one out in the top of the third resulted in a Mackenzie Budinger three-run home run.
- Haileigh Gonzalez doubled in Steward with two outs in the bottom of the third. Stevens followed with a double to left center gap to plate Gonzalez.
- Stevens recorded her third hit of the game, a double, to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Alexander grounded out to third to advance Stevens to third. Mackenzie Babbitt's suicide squeeze was successful as Stevens scored. Sydney Truett, the Lancers' starter, field the ball and over threw first, allowing Babbitt to reach second. With pinch hitter Pudi Hernandez, a lefthanded batter at the plate, Babbitt stole third. Hernandez grounded out to third which allowed Babbit to score the go-ahead run. Vazquez pinch hit once again but flew out to wrap up matters.
- On the first pitch of the top of the seventh, Lloyd hit a home run to tie the game at five. James relieved Jamerson. With one out, Rosario singled. Budinger was hit by a pitch. Argomaniz's bloop single loaded the bases. Avalos battled James, and on the eighth pitch of the at-bat, James struck her out.
- Down 0-2 in the count, Tucker battled back and drove in what proved to be the game winning run with a single through the left side. Arbeiter was hit by James pitch to score the seventh CBU run. Pinch hitter Hannah Thieroff popped out to first to end the inning.
- Steward tripled with one out in the CSUN seventh. Cauley drove Steward in with single to left. Gonzalez lined out to right to bring up Stevens reached on an infield single which advanced Cauley to third. Alexander flew out to left to end the game.
- Stevens had four of the nine CSUN hits (4-for-4). Cauley was 2-for-3. Budinger went 2-for-3 for the Lancers.

- "I thought we battled in both games. It was like a boxing match, we kept punching and they kept punching back. We put ourselves in a position to win both games and came up short in the second one. Hopefully we can learn from it."
