Meet CSUN's Under Armour Faculty
1/11/2021 1:07:00 PM | General
The CSUN Under Armour Faculty are a group of professors and lecturers committed to assisting student-athletes in their academic success and professional development. The group was started in 2016 by Professor and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Ed Jackiewicz and has since grown to nearly 30 faculty members from various majors across campus.
Â
Over the past few years, this group has assisted students through workshops, panel discussions, game attendance and one-on-one conversations. They are here to help you, the students. In the coming months, GoMatadors.com will introduce you to the various members of CSUN's UA Faculty.
Â

Â
I was born in a country and a city that no longer exist, which feels a bit surreal (well, it's a bit of exaggeration; they do exist physically, but their names have changed). Since I was in high school, I always wanted to travel, but I felt languages were a major impediment to it (along with the Iron Curtain). So, I started learning foreign languages, first, Spanish, then, English, and then picked up some more along the way. In college, I became a certified interpreter and a tour guide, which allowed me to meet people from all over the world. I've also been a docent at the Hermitage Museum (one of the largest museums in the world and the former residence of the Russian tzars) and worked with foreign press at such events as UEFA Cup (Soccer), World Congress on Military Medicine, Tango festivals, exhibits, cultural, and many other events. The UEFA Soccer cup was by far my favorite experience! Of course, I was rooting for my home team, but working at this event allowed me to meet amazing athletes and interact with them both on and off the field (if you are curious, my home team did win UEFA Cup several years later beating Manchester United!).
In my admittedly limited free time, I still enjoy traveling. So far, I've been to over 35 states and about 40 countries all over the world. I love cross-country skiing and try to go skiing whenever possible.Â
