Meet CSUN's Under Armour Faculty

The CSUN Under Armour Faculty are a group of professors and lecturers committed to assisting student-athletes in their academic success and professional development. The group was started in 2016 by Professor and Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Ed Jackiewicz and has since grown to nearly 30 faculty members from various majors across campus.

Over the past few years, this group has assisted students through workshops, panel discussions, game attendance and one-on-one conversations. They are here to help you, the students. In the coming months, GoMatadors.com will introduce you to the various members of CSUN's UA Faculty.

Teaching Areas: Food chemistry and technology
Research Areas: Fermented foods and health

I was born in Puebla, Mexico and emigrated to the US in 2005 to study my PhD at the University of Florida. After graduation from the PhD program, I moved to Massachusetts to work for Ocean Spray Cranberries developing fruit juices for international markets. Then I decided I wanted to teach and do research, after spending three years in Georgia in research positions, I joined CSUN.

I enjoy watching soccer and basketball, especially if I'm attending games at CSUN and cheering for our student-athletes. I also like cooking, hiking, canoeing and improv theater. My favorite part of being a CSUN professor is communicating my passion for food and health to my students as well as helping them to succeed.
