STOCKTON, Calif. - Sophomore Eirik Thomassen posted his second straight round of three-under-par 68 to move into the individual top-10 while the CSUN Men's Golf team is 10th following the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Friday at Stockton Golf & Country Club.
After posting a team round of 287 on Thursday, the Matadors posted a team round of 283 on Friday but slipped to 10th place at (+2) 570 as a majority of the teams improved from Thursday to Friday. Washington State continued to hold the team lead at 542, four shots better than San Jose State (546) in the 15-team field. Javier Barcos of Utah followed up a round of 66 on Thursday with an eight-under 63 on Friday to hold the individual lead at (-13) 129.
Thomassen began the day on the 10th tee and was one-over after a bogey at No. 13. But four birdies over his next five holes moved him to three-under heading to his final nine holes. Thomassen would cap his day with nine pars to finish the day at three-under 68 and six-under 136 for the tournament, good for ninth place. Â

"Our goal heading into the final round is to definitely look forward, not behind. We just need to put together a good team round tomorrow and we're certainly very capable of that. Eirik is playing with a lot of confidence and is minimizing his mistakes and playing very steady golf. A top-10 finish would be very good in this field, but I know he's looking to move into the top-five."
CSUN will be paired with Temple and Dixie State for Saturday's final round which will tee off beginning at 9:15 a.m. off the No. 10 tee.
