NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - CSUN sophomore Taylor Orshoff was named to the 2021 All-Big West Conference Team as the league announced its postseason awards on Dec. 1.
Orshoff, a 6-1 outside hitter from Riverside, earned honorable mention recognition from the conference's 11 head coaches. It marks the first postseason honors for Orshoff who was a freshman in 2019 before the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Orshoff led CSUN in nearly every offensive category this season. She finished the season with a team-high 314 kills while averaging 2.78 kills per set which ranked 16th in the Big West. She hit .181 for the season, taking a total of 919 attacks which tied her with senior Nicole Nevarez for the team high. Orshoff, who had a team-high 351 points, was CSUN's kills leader or tied for the team lead in 19 of 29 matches this season.
She connected for a career-high 18 kills while also establishing a career-high with five blocks in the Matadors' 3-1 win over UC Davis on Nov. 20. For the season, Orshoff also added 60 total blocks (10 solo) and 58 digs which were both season career-highs.Â
"I am really happy that the Big West coaches recognized the improvement that Taylor made this year," said interim head coach Susie Terrusa. "She led our team in kills and not only improved as an attacker but as a blocker as well. She has a bright future and I look forward to seeing what she can do next season."
CSUNÂ finished the 2021 season with an overall record of 7-23 and were 10th in the Big West at 6-14.
