NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The CSUN Beach Volleyball team dropped a 5-0 decision Saturday to visiting Boise State at the Matador Beach Volleyball Complex.

The dual opened with the No. 2, No. 4 and exhibition matches and the visiting Broncos claimed points at No. 2 and No. 4 matches. Katie Martin and Sierra Land claimed the No. 4 dual over CSUN's Lauren McMurray and Kailey Klein, 21-13, 21-14. Boise State made it 2-0 when Sedona Hansen and Joey Benson topped Lexi McLeod and Seyvion Waggoner, 21-16, 21-18 in the No. 2 pair. The first flight was capped by the exhibition (No. 6) match as Maya Watkins and Ellie McDonald defeated True McCullough and Emily Sparks, 21-19, 21-19.

In the second flight, Erin Martin and Evi Wilson won the No. 1 pair over Meagan Carter and Lauren Eknoian to clinch the dual team win. The Broncos then completed the sweep with wins at No. 3 and No. 5 as Rori Chartier and Kaylee Mejia held off Darbi Honeycutt and Mikaela Maughan in three sets, 12-21, 21-16, 15-11 and Kylee Johnson and Yasmin Tan went the distance to defeat the Matadors' Victoria Rogers and Abbey Sweeting at No. 5, 19-21, 21-17, 15-12.

COACH NOELLE ROOKE SAID
"Our goal this season is to stick to the process, keep getting better every day, and the outcome will eventually be what we want. Losing is never fun but losing sight of what is in our control is more detrimental to our overall psyche. We have a long way to go to get to where we are normally at this time of year but instead of focusing on all the time we were not awarded together since last March, we are going to be thankful for every day we do get to train and compete on the sand."

UP NEXT
The Matadors (3-4) continue their season-opening homestand Monday, hosting Colorado Mesa and The Master's in a tri-dual at the CSUN Beach Volleyball Complex beginning at 10 a.m.
