CSUN Travels To Big West Leader Cal State Fullerton

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN softball returns to the road this weekend when the Matadors travel to Big West leader Cal State Fullerton this weekend.

The series begins Friday with a single game that gets underway at 6 p.m. Play concludes Saturday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader. As per rules on the Cal State Fullerton campus; the Titans are only allowing fans that are on the Cal State Fullerton team pass list. From there, Titans' season ticket holders or donors to the program from the last two years can request tickets from whatever available seats are remaining. All three games will be streamed on BigWest.tv with direct links available on GoMatadors.com.

Cal State Fullerton leads the Big West Conference with a 6-0 mark. The Titans have played more games than any Big West school and are 21-11. As a result, Cal State Fullerton received one vote in this week's NFCA Top 25 poll.

Julia Valenzuela is second in the Big West in hits (32), fourth in RBI (18), fifth in runs scored (17), and sixth in hitting (.372). The Titans also have the league leader in home runs (Daisy Munoz, 7), and RBI (Hannah Becerra, 26). In the circle, Sophie Frost is the league leader in wins (9), second in the league in strikeouts (81), and fifth in ERA (2.20).

This is the 115th, 116th, and 117th meetings between CSUN and Cal State Fullerton with the Titans leading the all-time series 75-38-1.

The Matadors are coming off a rough weekend in which Long Beach State took all three games from CSUN (9-0, 9-1, 6-3). Junior Aaliyah Swan was a bright spot for CSUN against The Beach. She hit .500 against Long Beach State Apr. 2-3. Swan added two runs scored and one RBI against The Beach. The Matadors' shortstop, Swan did not commit an error in 12 chances against Long Beach State. Swan enters this weekend as the team leader in batting average (.393), hits (11), and runs scored (4).

Jaymi Steward hit her 10th career home run against Long Beach State on Apr. 3. Steward currently leads CSUN in home runs this season (2) and slugging percentage (.600). She begins this weekend third on the team in hitting (.280). Â
