NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - CSUN middle blocker Daniel Wetter has been extended an invitation to train with the 2021 U.S. Men's Indoor Collegiate National Training Team (MCNT) as part of USA Volleyball's National Team Development Program (NTDP).![]()
The MCNT will train and compete at the National Training Center in Anaheim from July 28th through August 5th, 2021. The MCNT will consist of approximately 28 athletes. Both NTDP's Boys U19 and Mens U21 programs will also be present for training and competition. USA Volleyball has invited three Boys U19 programs from three international federations to join in training and competition: Bulgaria, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
"This will be huge for Daniel and will definitely speed up his development," said CSUN head coach Jeff Campbell. "This is a new program and the main thing Daniel will get out of this will be playing against older and experienced international players on a daily basis."
Wetter, who led the Matadors and ranked eighth nationally in hitting percentage (.442) this season, is the first CSUN men's volleyball player to play for the United States since Taylor Ittner helped lead the United States Men's Junior National Team to a fifth-place finish at the Pan American Cup in Lima, Peru in 2019.
Former Matador All-American Arvis Greene Jr. also represented CSUN on the U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team at the "NORCECA Men's XIII Pan American Cup" in Veracruz, Mexico in 2018.
