CSUN Men's Volleyball Finalizes 2027 Schedule

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - CSUN men's volleyball head coach Theo Edwards has announced the Matadors' 2027 schedule.
CSUN will play a 27-match regular-season schedule before the 2027 Big West Men's Volleyball Championship gets underway at LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid at Long Beach State on Apr. 29.
"We wanted to build a schedule that would test us in a lot of different ways," said Edwards, who opens his fifth season at the helm in January. "We'll see teams from across the country, compete against the top programs from the MPSF, and then enter a Big West schedule where there really aren't any nights off."
The Matadors will be challenged from day one as they open the 2027 season at the annual UC Santa Barbara Invitational for the 22nd time in the past 23 seasons. CSUN will open the season against former MPSF rival Pacific which is bringing back men's volleyball after a 13-year absence. CSUN and Pacific met 38 times from 1993 to 2014 as members of the MPSF. The Matadors will also meet Concordia Irvine and NJIT in Santa Barbara before returning to the Valley.
CSUN's 2027 home opener is slated for Jan. 15 against Northern Kentucky. In total, the Matadors will play 17 non-conference matches and 10 Big West matches, 14 of the 26 of those inside Premier America Credit Union Arena in Northridge. CSUN will also host Jessup (Jan. 20), Merrimack (Jan. 22), Vanguard (Jan. 27), USC (Feb. 10), UCLA (Feb. 12), Menlo (Feb. 19), and Cal Lutheran (Feb. 24) in non-conference matches.Â
The Matadors will travel to Cal Lutheran (Jan. 29) and Fort Valley State for a three-team tournament from Feb. 4-6. CSUN will meet the host Wildcats (Feb. 4), FDU (Feb. 5), and Queens University of Charlotte (Feb. 6) in Fort Valley, Ga. The Matadors will close non-conference play on the East Coast, taking on Princeton (Mar. 25) and Harvard (Mar. 27).
CSUN's 10-match Big West schedule gets underway Mar. 3Â against UC San Diego in Northridge. The two teams complete the season series in La Jolla on Mar. 12.
The Big West season resumes in earnest on Apr. 1 as CSUN welcomes UC Santa Barbara to Premier America Credit Union Arena. The Matadors head to Santa Barbara on Apr. 3 to complete the two-match set with the Gauchos. A home-and-home set with UC Irvine follows on Apr. 8 and Apr. 10, before CSUN hosts defending national champions Hawai'i for two matches on Apr. 15 and Apr. 17. The regular season concludes with a home-and-home series with Long Beach State on Apr. 22 and Apr. 24.
"We have high expectations for this group, and we know the path to reaching those goals is going to require us to compete at a high level consistently," Edwards added. "We're excited about the opportunities this schedule gives us and I can assure you our guys will be ready to go."
The 2027 Big West Men's Volleyball Championship will be contested at LBS Financial Credit Union Pyramid in Long Beach for the first time since the inaugural event in 2018. After a pair of quarterfinal matches on Thursday (Apr. 29), semifinal matches will be played on Apr. 30 with the Big West Championship match slated for Saturday, May 1.Â
The 2027 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship will be hosted by UNLV at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
